The event was hosted by Interactive One and The Council of Urban Professionals and featured the current thought leaders of multicultural and black online media. At one point, AOL was the way of accessing the internet as people weren’t comfortable using search pages or other lesser known portal sites as their default home page. Now that people have become savvy and much more at ease with using the internet on their own terms, they don’t need to pay for a portal service and AOL’s revenues have suffered as a result. AOL is working on perfecting their hustle, but is it too late for the former internet giant to return to glory?

The ThickButtons technology is based on the concept that it is easier to guess individual letters than whole words. The size of a phone screen is less of an issue because the buttons are enlarged.

“ThickButtons simplifies the way we type on our touchscreen smartphones,” said Dimitri Lisitski, co-founder of ThickButtons. “Recent studies have documented a spiking demand for touchscreen smartphones – and correspondingly, people have been typing a lot more – with some frustrating and hilarious results. Dictionary-based technologies often can’t keep up with names, slang and vernacular.”

ThickButtons cites no change in typing habits, less dependency on the dictionary, and easy typing on small screens as benefits. The development team is hard at work to offer the app on additional platforms.

Gravatar Becomes a Social Network of 22 Million In a Day « Black Web 2.0.

After downloading the app and creating your account, you can e-mail any document (PDF, office formats, images) to a special e-mail address that Zosh then imports. Once you get a document, you can choose to add text, a signature or an image (if you have a stored image of your signature or something) and a date.

The cool feature is using the iPhone’s screen to just sign your name. The screen moves forward as you sign to give you more space. Once you get your signature, you can insert it anywhere in your document, move it around, resize it or rotate it.
