Edison International announced a commitment to contribute $150,000 over three years to The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) through 2011.

The LAGRANT Foundation’s mission is to increase the ethnic minority numbers in the fields of advertising, marketing and public relations through scholarships, professional development, mentoring and internship opportunities. The partnership will help TLF target the underserved student populations in the California State University System. According to the press release, the system “has the largest, most diverse and underserved minority population of students compared to any other state university system.”

“We are long-time supporters of The LAGRANT Foundation and we applaud the Foundation’s education mission,” said Edison International Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications Barbara J. Parksy. “We want to take this partnership to the next level by directly increasing the number of students receiving scholarships in these underserved areas of Southern California.”

“Edison has supported The LAGRANT Foundation for nine of the eleven years TLF has existed,” said TLF Founder/Chairman, Mr. Kim L. Hunter. “We are excited about this partnership, which will help to provide more concentrated efforts on some of the most diverse CSU campuses in the state.”

Since its inception in 1998, TLF has awarded nearly $1,000,000 to more than 130 students nationwide. TLF strives to shatter the glass ceiling and provide opportunities for ethnic minorities for years to come.
